Understand the system before building the interface.

Projects are approached as connected systems rather than isolated pages. The business problem, entities, workflows, dependencies, architecture, implementation, and verification all matter to the final result.

01 PROBLEM

Start with the problem

Technology should follow the business requirement. The first question is not which framework or platform to use, but what needs to change for the user or the business.

02 MODEL

Understand the entities

Users, products, organizations, orders, RFQs, content, payments, vendors, and other domain objects should have clear responsibilities and relationships.

03 FLOW

Map how work moves

Inputs, decisions, state changes, integrations, outputs, and ownership need to be understood before complicated workflows are implemented.

04 BOUNDARY

Separate responsibilities

Authentication, business data, commerce, presentation, infrastructure, integrations, and external platforms should have understandable boundaries.

05 BUILD

Build in small phases

Large systems become easier to reason about when they are built through small, verifiable phases with explicit inputs, outputs, states, and success conditions.

06 VERIFY

Test what was assumed

Implementation is not complete just because the code runs. Important workflows, failure cases, boundaries, and expected outputs need to be verified.
